Instructions
Step 1: Preheat & Prepare
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Step 2: Make the Bread Pudding
Place bread cubes in the dish. In a large bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract. Stir in raisins (if using). Pour custard over bread, pressing gently to soak. Drizzle with melted butter.
Step 3: Bake the Pudding
Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until golden brown and a knife inserted comes out clean.
Step 4: Make the Vanilla Sauce
While pudding bakes, make the sauce. In a saucepan, combine sugar, butter, and heavy cream. Heat over medium, stirring constantly, until simmering. Whisk cornstarch with a little water until smooth; stir into the sauce. Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened (2-3 minutes). Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
Step 5: Serve & Enjoy!
Serve warm bread pudding topped with vanilla sauce.
