Instructions
Step 1: Preheat & Prep
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Step 2: Cook the Pasta
Boil pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Step 3: Cook the Sausage & Veggies
In a large skillet, brown the sausage over medium heat, breaking it up with a spatula. Add onion and garlic; cook 3-4 minutes until softened.
Step 4: Make the Sauce
Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Simmer 5-7 minutes.
Step 5: Assemble the Bake
Combine cooked pasta and sausage mixture. Stir in ricotta cheese. Pour half the mixture into the baking dish. Top with half the mozzarella and Parmesan. Add remaining pasta mixture, then remaining cheeses.
Step 6: Bake
Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake 10-15 more minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown.
Step 7: Serve
Let rest 5-10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley.
